Releases!

First of all, I’ve started a Bandcamp page, which is basically a great way to get hold of high quality versions of our releases, over the next few months I’m going to upload some of our older stuff to it, as well as any new releases when they’re done!

Anyway, the page is here, and you’ll notice you can now buy “Let’s Take This Dinosaur” in many digital formats, not that you’d want to really, considering it’s only $5 for an actual physical copy of the EP (there are still several copies left by the way!). And you’ll also notice this new EP:

The Usual Bridge

A free digital-only release of minimal electronic music with occasional bursts of guitar and vocals. I guess it could be considered a ’single’ from Microleaps, but that’s a bit of a stretch because it doesn’t have much in common with the album, besides the title track.

Excellent Universe

This is the EP we did for Project 168 part four, which took place between the 13th and 19th of April. Two tracks, 26 minutes of post-metal, ambience and shoegaze. It’ll be going online as soon as Project 168 gets finalised, I can’t wait! It’s some of the most satisfying stuff I’ve recorded.

Archie Martin Vox - Twenty-Eight

This album is the result of a February project that ran a little late, in fact it’s still in the process of being finished! Anyway, Archie Martin Vox is a Rooftop Access side-project of ‘anything goes’ music, but mostly subgenres of metal and noise. This will probably go up on a separate Bandcamp site, for free, and once it’s done I’m going to be working on a new AMV album which will be wanky and concept-based, I might even try to sell it too!

Ok, that’s it for release updates. ‘Reals and Dreamity’ is chugging along slowly, I don’t have a definite tracklist yet but it’s sounding quite nice so far. Post-rock, post-metal, ambience, IDM, shoegaze, it should all be represented in some form!

Bye!

Update!

Posted in Rooftop Access on December 4th, 2008 by robot

Ok, I don’t know who reads this, but just in case you stumbled across this site via a CD that i handed to you, or some kind of spamming, here’s an update!

Microleaps

Our first full-length album Microleaps was released in September, on the always excellent Laridae label, you can grab it for free here. It’s a collection of tracks that have been floating around in several forms since as early as 2005, which means I’m sick of most of the tracks by now, and it was basically just a way for me to flush out my remaining electronic tracks that were made after the last Modex album, along with some new post-rock stuff. Unfortunately they didn’t use the superb artwork designed by our in-house artist Egle Naujokaityte, but it is included in the zip file.

Let’s Take This Dinosaur

Last month I ‘released’ a mini-cd of guitar ambience, with handmade packaging and unique stencil artwork. The response was awesome, therefore I’ve decided to keep making copies of it until the next album is out (more on that later). Here are some photos of the artwork:

If you’re interested in buying a copy, they are $5AU including postage if you live in Australia, and $5US if you live anywhere else. Leave a comment on this post if you want a copy.

Reals And Dreamity

On the subject of new releases, I’m working on a new album. It’s called “Reals and Dreamity”, and it’s mostly going to be a collection of edited improvisations, much like the mini-EP mentioned above, but this time it’ll be more of a “full band” sound. The demos are coming together slowly, and hopefully I’ll be able to work on the structure and some recordings with the band in Perth in late December, and bring it all back to Melbourne to finish it up. I’m hoping it’ll all be done by March 2009 at the latest, but if I remember correctly, I said that Microleaps would be finished by November 2007, when it actually took until June this year to complete. That said, this album is coming together much more quickly, I’m getting used to the songwriting process now. And I should also add that this album will be 90% band based stuff, as opposed to only a few tracks. Exciting stuff!

Anyway, that’s about all for now, there are some collaborative projects in the works, but I’ll keep them quiet until they’re ready, just in case they change dramatically, like they always do. Goodnight!

Well I finally put a blog here, I guess I should post some news sometime. If anyone reads it, that is.

Meanwhile, here is some footage of us playing at the Grosvenor Housecooling in September last year. It’s in four parts, I’m sure you can figure it out.
